The businessman faced three fraud lawsuits - which alleged the school misled students and failed to deliver on its promises - in California and New York.

NIGERIA RANKS THIRD MOST TERRORIZED NATION IN THE WORLD

Nigeria is still ranked third among the countries in the world that have been worst hit by terror attacks, according to the 2016 Global Terrorism Index (GTI) report.

The GTI monitored and measured the impacts of terrorism in 163 countries, covering 99.7 per cent of the world’s population.

Nigeria had occupied the same position in last year’s ranking, and was ranked fourth in 2014. For 2016, Nigeria ranked behind Iraq and Afghanistan.

UNILAG-ASUU JOINS WARNING STRIKE

Lecturers of the University of Lagos on Wednesday complied with the directive of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to its members nationwide to begin a one-week warning strike. A News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) correspondent who visited the university campus reports that students were found milling around and idling away, as lecturers stayed away from classes. 

A 400 level Civil Engineering student, who simply identified himself as Biodun, pleaded with the federal government to intervene and accede to the lecturers’ demands. “The lecturers are fighting for us. “Government should please listen to them because I will not like a repeat of the 2013 protracted strike. “I knew how much the 2013 strike cost me,’’ Biodun said. Dr Adelaja Odukoya, Chairman ASUU University of Lagos chapter, told NAN that he was impressed by the level of compliance of his colleagues in the university to the strike directive. According to him, the union will remain resolute in ensuring that the strike is total.

When you experience failure or abuse or even have been fully worried, the last thing you want to do is to take risk, embrace change or try again. Those however, are the very thing you need to live an authentic life from the inside out.

You were not created for fear. You were not created to be shackled by negative and absurd memories. You were created to live out of bold, dynamic, a life of love and joy.

Failure is part of life. Accept the faith that when you fall, pick yourself up and choose to move forward. You haven’t really failed unless you refuse to get up. Recognise that others around you also have fault and fail from time to time. Don’t get stuck in those memories.

BOB DYLAN CONFIRMS NON-ATTENDANCE AT NOBEL PRIZE CEREMONY

Bob Dylan will not travel to Sweden to receive his Nobel Prize for Literature in person, it has been announced.

The Swedish Academy, which awards the Nobel prizes, said it had received "a personal letter" saying he was unable to attend next month's Nobel ceremony "due to pre-existing commitments".

Dylan, the organisation said, felt "very honoured" and wished he could receive the prize personally.

The singer is required to give a Nobel lecture between now and next June.

The mayor of a town in the US state of West Virginia has resigned after she was caught up in a controversy over racist comments about Michelle Obama.

Beverly Whaling had appeared to applaud a Facebook post referring to Mrs Obama as an "ape in heels".

She wrote that the post had made her day, but later said she was referring to the election outcome.

A petition calling for the mayor's resignation had gathered over 170,000 signatures.

Ms Whaling was the mayor of the town of Clay, which has a population of just 491.

The town has no African American residents, according to the 2010 census. In Clay County as a whole, more than 98% of its 9,000 residents are white.
